Singapore skyline around the Marina Bay area has changed a lot in the past 10 years. I remember walking on a lalang (those coarse weedy tall grass) field that was a little muddy after the rain to photograph the skyline back in 2005. See my earlier post about that here and the photo from that night in December 2005.
I returned to that lalang field last night that has now become a mega complex of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) hotel, casino and shopping mall and the ArtScience Museum. It was after the rain, but no more muddy field. I walked comfortably along the nice promenade that give you more than 180º view of the Singapore central business district. On a clear night, the view is magnificent. In front of me, separated by the water, stood tall a jungle of concrete, steel and glass, designed to please the eyes. What a view.
Now, can you tell how many new buildings added since 2005? See the difference in this new photo taken last night.
If you are visiting Singapore, Marina Bay area is a must-go place among others. Plan to come in the late afternoon / early evening and take a walk around the bay until sunset. Plan to be in the MBS area to watch the sunset behind the buildings in the photo above. Have fun.
