I will bring you safely to your destination

I did some street photography with my iPhone 4s during my stay in Manila last week. The one above was shot in Binondo, Manila. I was initially attracted to the scene because of the red and yellow colors of the shop. I stood in front of it, waiting patiently for people to walk into the scene. I shot some images prior to this one, with people walking in front of that closed shop, but this one really came out the best. Why?

I saw the two women coming into scene from a far. The one in green is blind apparently. The one in front of her who looks like her daughter, patiently guided her walking. Inside me, I was jumping up and down, excited, when I saw this image unfolding before me through my iPhone screen. It’s because of the signboard above them, the DHL. DHL is in the business of delivering something to a destination safely, as you already know. And this woman, the daughter, did what DHL does best. She was bringing her mother to her destination safely. Like it? I do.

So, the next time you are out shooting street photography, be patient  and wait for a scene to unfold before you. Quite often, the reward can be great. Keep shooting everyone!
