I have been testing my Panasonic GF1 a lot lately and I am getting in love with it more and more everyday. It’s small and powerful enough for me to carry it with me everyday. The pancake 20mm f1.7 lens is small and wonderful. But what makes me love it even more is the fact that I can use my M-mount Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f1.4 with an adapter. True that it’s not that easy to manually focus the lens on the GF1, but I love the process of creating an image with it. And today I wanted to test the bokeh produced by the lens on GF1.
The image above was shot inside a church wide open at f1.4. I saw a woman entering the church and I manually focused the lens at its closest focusing distance (70 cm) and shot against a strong backlight coming from the church’s main door. Nice bokeh huh? Look at those circle of lights. What do you think?
Another image below was a shot of pillars and colored glass windows. Again, I focused the lens at its closest focusing distance at f.14. I love the effect.

Ko, how good is this GF1? I heard some of my friends also use this camera as the backup of their DSLR.
At first I under estimated this camera, but after reviewing those photos above, I’m truly amazed.
Hi Ben, the GF1 is a good little camera. The fact that it can use different lenses, be it micro 4/3 lenses or other lenses (with adapters) make it very versatile and a great little fellow to do some creative photography work.
As usual, lenses play important role. So, need to get good lens too. The Panasonic pancake 20mm f/1.7 is good.
Both images look nice and dreamy. Can you tell me which adaptor you use for this lens on your GF1? I am thinking about getting this lens and the adaptor for my GF1. Thanks.
