Singapore Blog Awards 2012 Finalist

I returned from Manila mid last week and have been tied up with few other things, hence did not get a chance to properly write about this news. I am one of the 10 finalists for the Singapore Blog Awards 2012 in the Photography category. If you have a moment to spare I would appreciate your vote here. Those outside of Singapore can vote too. And Yes, you can vote everyday. So, please do so before your breakfast every morning.  🙂

OMY is the bilingual news and interactive web portal by leading media group Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (SPH) and has provided a great platform for bloggers and photobloggers in Singapore to participate in this annual Blog Awards for the past five years. I am grateful to be part of it since 2010 when I first joined and also won the award in the same category. It has since helped to promote this blog to a bigger online community and others. So thanks again OMY.

As part of the rally for votes, I choose to participate in the e-Interview, rather than sending video. I know I am not so good in front of the camera. I am a man behind it.  🙂

1. How do you feel about being one of finalists in Singapore Blog Awards 2012?
   I know there are a lot of great photographers in Singapore, hence I am very excited and thankful for this opportunity to be one of the finalists again this year. It encourages me to do better, to explore and experiment more and to continue having fun creating images through my lenses.
2. When did you start blogging and what drew you to it? Where do you get inspiration for your blog content?
   I first started blogging in early 2005, but hendralauw.com started in April 2006, even though I have fallen in love with photography for more than 10 years now.  I just wanted to share and at the same time to learn from the online photography community. The more I share, hence the more I take pictures, the more I myself learn and explore too. If you have noticed, I have been experimenting a lot with my iPhone 4s lately as a photography tool. I enjoy creating images with it. It’s small, powerful enough and fun to use.
   Where do I get my inspiration for my blog content? I guess, I have to take pictures first before I can have a blog content, since this is a photography blog. I shoot almost anything, even though lately I have found myself shooting a lot of street photography with my iPhone 4s and my Leica Rangefinder. I still use my DSLR for others though.
3. How do you feel about the other Finalists in your category this year? How do you think you will fare compared to them?
   All of them are great. I am thankful to be part of the ten finalists. I can really get some inspirations by browsing through their blogs. I encourage you all to visit their blogs too. Having said that, I will try my best to rally for votes and to impress the judges.  🙂
4. Give a reason why readers should visit your blog and vote for you?
   Besides that I am really a nice guy whom you can invite for coffee or prawn noodle breakfast or simple chat, if you really like photography and would like to learn and get some inspirations, you are warmly welcomed here.
